Verdict
While you observe the filmography of Anurag Kashyap, most of his movies that worked well at the box-office are made on raw content focusing on the crimes. But surprisingly he has completely changed his story selection and coming up with different genre stories that are failing to entertain the audience in the theatres.
Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat movie is a romantic drama from the director that has very simple story line that is relatable to many of youngsters from present generation, but also feels routine, if movie was not made with non-linear screenplay. Anurag Kashyap is an expert in designing the characters that are relatable and the lead characters are written in the same way that these characters get connected with the audience instantly.
While it comes to acting performances, both the lead actors Alya F and Karan Mehta have two different characters in the movie that has variations look wise as well. Alaya F, who has already proved her acting mettle with her debut movie ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’, once again entertained in two different roles that has variations. Karan Mehta, who is debuting as an actor with this movie, gave a decent performance, but need to improve a little more in terms of expressions. All other actors did their part well as required for their characters.
Technically Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat movie looks good. Music composed by Amit Trivedi is one of the major highlights in the movie. His songs add more beauty to this simple love story and background music is apt for the proceedings. Cinematography by Sylvester Fonseca is another highlights in the movie. He captured some beautiful landscapes from Dalhousie in India, that looks pretty on screen. Productiion values are good.
Director Anurag Kashyap is somehow missing the mark in every movie he is making from last few years. One may definitely have a doubt if this movie is really directed by Anurag Kashyap as it completely looks new from the director.
