Verdict

It is not an easy task to make a complete movie just with one character, as audience may feel boredom of watching the same actor for such long duration on screen. Alone is one such experimental movies that solely depends on the character Kalidas played by Mohanlal, while other characters in the movie are only audible but not visible.

Alone movie is setup in the time of lockdown that focuses on single character and the situation he has to experience in unknown place due to restrictions. Though movie starts very slowly, few scenes in the first and later half of the movie makes it interesting, but when looked at this movie completely, it lacks the interest with so many dragged scenes.

Mohanlal lifted the whole movie with his performance. Though the movie has only once character visible on the screen, audience may not feel the same due to brilliant performance from Mohanlal.

Technically Alone movie looks okay. Background music composed by ‘4 Musics’ is apt for the proceedings and adds the required thrill for few scenes. Cinematography handled by Abinandhan Ramanujam, Pramod K Pillai is very good, but few scenes elevate over saturated colors that could have been taken care during the DI. Editing could have been crisper. Production values are okay.

We need to appreciate the director Shaji Kailal for his efforts to present a single character and to make the movie thrilling.

Overall, Alone movie is Mohanlal’s one man show, that might feel new for the movie lover and might be boring for other audience.

Plus Points:

  • Mohanlal
  • Background Score

Minus Points:

  • Dragged Scenes
  • Single Character

Rating: 2.5/5
