Verdict
As the title of this movie suggests, it has more action sequences with a simple story line setup in a different premise of a movie star getting stuck in murder mystery and trying to escape from it. Trailer of this movie revealed a lot about the story and made it clear the audience on how this movie will proceed further. Though most of movie is predictable, it maintains the thrill with some power packed performances from the leading actors. Ayushmann Khurrana who loves to choose content oriented movies has stepped into action genre with Anek already and it is interesting to watch this actor in a commercial pot boiler movie. There are few twists and turns that will lead to the climax that ends simply without any high note, but definitely the whole movie has many interesting scenes and action sequences that will entertain the audience.
When it comes to acting, though it is refreshing to see Ayushmann Khurrana in such commercial movies, his performance looks routine on screen with similar expressions from his previous movies. It is Jaideep Ahlawat who steals the show in this movie with his performance. Jaideep has unique style of acting, he can manage any kind of role offered to him with ease adding some humor with his body language and simple dialogues. All other actors did their part as required for the story.
Technically An Action Hero movie looks good. Music composed by Parag Chhabra, Tanishk Baghchi, Biddu, Amar Jalal, Faridkot is okay and songs are not that great, but the background music composed by Sunny M.R. brings up the required thrill for the scenes. Cinematography by Kaushal Shah is good, especially during the action sequences and he was able to capture some exotic locations in London. Action choreography by Ian Van Temperly (Uk) & Stunt Silva (India) is another positive in the film. Production values are high. Editor Ninad Khanolkar could have chopped of few lengthy scenes.
Director Anirudh Iyer worked as a associate and assistant director for few films earlier and debuted as director with this movie. Though he is a debut director, he came up with a simple story in a different premise with added thrill to it. He was able to thrill the audience with his making style despite of few flaws.
Overall, ‘An Action Hero’ is an interesting and thrilling action packed movie that can be watched in the theatres this weekend.
