Verdict

Blurr is an official remake of Spanish movie “Julia’s Eyes”. Original movie had elements that could connect with the people in Spain, but Blurr misses that changes needed in the story to make it connect with the audience. Though the story line, narration and other elements in the movie are apt for any language, there are few scenes in the movie that may not be suitable for all section of audience. Blurr has some thrilling moments, but most of the movie is narrated flat with many predictable scenes. Few twists and turns will entertain us in the later half of this movie.

While it comes to the acting performances, Taapsee Pannu role is throughout the film and she managed to pull it off easily in some scenes, but also looked very unreal and artificial in few other scenes. She has been casted in many movies these days and we got to see her constantly in different roles with similar type of expressions that is making her look routine on screen. She might need to choose different roles that has the variation in her character and gives more scope for her to perform. Gulshan Devaiah is under used in the movie, but he shines as an actor in those few scenes he appeared. All other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically Blurr movie looks good. Background score composed by Rishi Dutta & Shivangi Bhayana is apt for the scenes and adds up the thrill required in few scenes, raises intense in few other scenes. Cinematography by Sudhir K. Chaudhary was good to some extent, with few routine shots & frames through out the movie. Editing by Manish Pradhan could have been better. Production values are good, as movie is produced by multiple producers.

Director Ajay Bahl tried to stick to the original without making many changes in the scenes. But that turned out to be one of the negatives in the movie, as few scenes are not connectable to Indian nativity. He was impressive with his previous movies ‘Section 375’ & ‘BA Pass’ to some extent and does the same with this movie.

Overall, Blurr is good thriller that has few flaws in the narration and scenes that are not apt for all section of audience in India. You can watch it on Zee5 OTT platform, if you have enough time this weekend.

Plus Points:

  • Climax
  • Twists

Minus Points:

  • Predictable scenes
  • Over the top performances by few actors

Rating: 2.5/5
