Verdict

Punjab state is once shaken by the uncountable drug cases and huge drug supply in the state that made youngsters go crazy. This series is made on same content with some added thrill to it. There was a movie already made on this point titled ‘Udta Punjab’, though this series has similar story point, writing of a protagonist turning into o secret informer makes this series more interesting and thrilling. Few scenes look slow paced and dragged in middle of the episodes, but keeps us engaged till the end with the narration and making style. Many scenes might look very regular that was earlier presented in few movies, but there are few scenes that look very fresh and raw setup in this backdrop of drug mafia.

While it comes to the acting performances, Randeep Hooda is the biggest backbone for this series, who lifted up the whole series on his shoulders with his performance. He looks naïve, calm in few scenes, emotionally raged in some other scenes and ruthless in few other scenes. He is a brilliant actor who can showcase any kind of emotion with ease as required for the scene. Hasleen Kaur looks beautiful on screen, though she had very few scenes. Suvinder Vicky is another actor who impresses with his performance in this series. All other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically CAT series looks good. Background  music composed by Rakesh Varma (V Rakx Music) adds the tension required for some scenes. Cinematography by Arvind Krishna is almost brilliant with some raw visuals and natural lighting that exactly resembles the natural scenarios in Punjab. Editing could have been a little better, as few episodes look a bit lengthy. Production values are good.

Directors Balwinder Singh Janjua, Rupinder Chahal, Jimmy Singh better understood the life of youngsters in Punjab and tried to present the same with some thrill added to it in this series. They were successful to some extent in engaging the audience, if few scenes are ignored from few episodes.

Overall, CAT is an engaging and raw series that portrays the struggle of Punjab youngsters who are addicted to drugs and struggle of a person who goes to any extent to help his brother to come out of it.

Plus Points:

  • Performances
  • Thrills in every episode
  • Raw making
