Movie Verdict
Chup has many elements in the movie that will make you watch it till the end. The reason behind the serial killings and the emotional breakdown of the leading character are very well written and executed on screen. Movie adapted a non-linear screenplay which will make the audience scratch their heads to understand what is going to happen next. Though the narration feels slower throughout the movie, making and the scenes related to the murder & investigation makes it interesting to watch. Love scenes between the lead pair also looks fresh rather than very old & boring stories that are shown on screen these days. Climax of the movie may surprise you, as it might be unexpected.
While it comes to acting, Dulquer Salmaan is one of the best actors in the present generation across all the languages in India. He looks so effortless in this movie and did a brilliant job in his role. It is happy to watch Sunny Deol on screen with the character that suits him perfectly and the actor had done a good job. Shreya Dhanwantary looks beautiful and did her part well, though she had limited screen presence. Pooja Bhatt and all other actors did their part as required for the story.
Technically Chup movie is very good. Songs composed by Amit Trivedi, Sneha Khanwalkar, Aman Pant are good and background score is biggest highlight in the movie. Vishal Sinha did a good job as a cinematographer, with some brilliant shots and colors used that suits the mood of the film. Editing looks perfect.
Director R Balki is one of the directors from Hindi film industry, who have a decent filmography as a writer and director. All the films directed by R Balki are a minimum guarantee films and Chup is another hit in his career as a director. He has delivered a well written and executed thriller, though handling the thriller for the first time.
Overall, Chup is a perfect crime thriller that can be watched in theatres for some brilliant performances and making.
