Movie Verdict
After the success of her debut film Ishaqzaade,’ Parineeti didn’t get a solid break as she has been doing many films, unfortunately, none of the films fared well, however, Code Name Tiranga might get a breakthrough in her career as the story looks very thin as we have seen the same plot in many Bollywood spy films but what made this film interesting is the screenplay.
The film races through the first half with an interesting premise and protagonist’s mission, and the interval block hooked the audience to watch the later half, Although, the second is good for a while the pace dips in the second half with love scenes the action blocks are just fireworks.
The movie has flaws like a thin storyline and predictable scenes in the second half but still, the movie has well-choreographed action blocks that are a visual feast for action lovers, throughout the movie the core emotion called patriotism didn’t land well.
Parineeti as fearless RAW agent Durga and Ismat justify the two roles but she failed in emoting the emotional scenes, Music sensation Harrdy Sandhu made his acting debut, and as Dr. Mirza Ali he is just okay as we can see his uncomfortableness in front the camera and he was expressionless throughout the movie, Sharad Kelkar as Omar Khalid is good as it’s quite fresh to watch him in this type of role and he justified his character and rest of the cast did well.
Ribhu Dasgupta was impressed with the Netflix series Bard of Blood starring Imran Hashmi and after that, he made a film with Parineeti called The Girl On The Train which was a flop, after watching Code Name Tiranga, it seems that he is still in the same terrorism trance as he partly succeeded in engaging the audience.
Technically, Code Name Tiranga is just okay as Tribhuvan Babu Sadineni’s cinematography is partly good and few scenes were so horrible to watch on screen, Anuj Deshpande’s VFX is not up to the mark as helicopters look like cartoons, and Jaidev Kumar, Vipin Patwa songs didn’t register and BGM also not up to the mark and the BGM could have been much better, love scenes should have been chopped off by editor Sangeeth Varghese so that the screenplay becomes even pacier.
Overall, Code Name Tiranga is a one-time watch spy action thriller that can be watched by action lovers.
