Movie Verdict

Drishyam 2 is also an official remake of Malayalam superhit with the same title. Original Malayalam movie is already a big hit and available for streaming on OTT platforms that is accessible for many people in the country. If a movie is remade, there should be some interesting changes that should suit the nativity of the language in which the movie is being remade, as this might make audience watch the movie in theatres even after they watch the original on OTT platforms.

Drishyam 2 Hindi makers have opted for very few changes from the original, but that didn’t create any interest in the movie or the proceedings. But the final twists and Vija’s plan to setup everything to cover up murder is something that makes the audience excited. Just like the earlier part, part 2 is narrated in slow pace and then by the end each twist revealed makes the movie an exciting watch on screen.

While it comes to acting performances, Ajay Devgn once again shows his experience as an actor in his role by conveying the emotions just through his eyes.  Akshaye Khanna is an interesting addition in the cast, but the role he played might have been offered to some other actor, as it looks like an ordinary character that can be played by anyone. Tabu has less screen time in this part, but she was good in all the scenes she appeared. Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor, Mrunal Jadhav and all other actors did their part well as required for the story.

Technically Drishyam 2 looks okay. Original score composed by Devi Sri Prasad is decent and looks apt for the theme of this movie, but the songs are not upto the mark. Cinematography by Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary is one of the major highlights in this movie, he tried to create the thrilling mood with his visuals throughout the film. Editing by Sandeep Francis is good. Production values are also good.

Director Abhishek Pathak made a few changes in the script, but that didn’t bring any change in the movie. He tried to stick to the original with very minute changes in the script.

Overall, Drishyam 2 is another interesting thriller with unexpected twists and turns in the end. If you haven’t watched the original from Malayalam, watch this remake in theatres near you right away.
