Movie Verdict
The element that worked out in the original was the comedy that is generated with the character played Yogi babu. Though Good Luck Jerry has some comic moments, the feel of the original is definitely missing. Director has made a few changes to the proceedings to suit the nativity, as the story is setup in Punjab. Mannerisms and the behavior of the people living in Punjab can be clearly seen through the characters and that also looks funny for few scenes, yet the scenes that worked out very well in Tamil, doesn’t suit this conditions adapted in this movie.
Janhvi Kapoor, who impressed with her performance and looked confident in Gunjan Saxena, falters a little bit in the character of Jerry, as the whole movie revolves around her character and has a lot to do as an actor. As she is still new, she will definitely get better with each project. Deepak Dobriyal will make you laugh in every scene he is part of. Sushant Singh got a regular role, which he himself did many times on screen and the actor fits that role. Mita Vashisht is decent in her role and all other actors did their job as required for the scenes.
Technically Good Luck Jerry looks decent. Cinematography handled by Rangarajan Ramabhadran was good and all the frames loiok bright and colorful showcasing some beautiful locations of Punjab and capturing the soul of the state. Songs and Background score composed by Parag Chhabra are good, but music composed by Anirudh for the original was one of the major highlights in the movie that made scenes more interesting, which is missing case in this remake. Siddharth Sen made some reasonable changes to the movie and was mostly successful in presenting an entertainer to Hindi audience.
Finally, Good Luck Jerry is a decent remake that will surely entertain the audience, with few changes made to suit nativity.
