Movie Verdict

Goodbye has the entertainment, drama and other factors that could connect with family audience. But the narration of this movie makes it hard to watch, as the story focuses on multiple topics of life, family, friendship and everything. If the movie had focused more on the core plot and team could have worked more on the funny scenes, it could have been a better watch. Although movie has some moments that will entertain the audience, there are many scenes that look dull and dragged, that makes the audience lose their interest. Few funny scenes & dialogues that are setup around death are interesting to watch.

While it comes to acting, it is always a treat to watch Amitabh Bachchan on screen. He is one such actor, who can look brilliant in any kind of role. His expressions during the emotional scenes are top notch and his comedy timing is very unique that will evoke laughs just with his dialogue delivery. Neena Gupta is another actor who never fails to impress with her performances, she was brilliant in the role of Gayathri, though her role has limited screen time. Rashmika Mandanna was okay with her performance and need to work harder on her expressions in emotional scenes, but she looks much better when compared to her previous film in Telugu and Tamil. Sunil Grover, Ashish Vidyarthi were decent in their roles offering some laughs. All other actors did their part well as required for the story.

Technically Goodbye movie looks okay. Music and background score composed by Amit Trivedi sounds refreshing and apt for this movie. Cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti was decent enough, as most of the scenes were shot in interior locations. Production values are good.

Director Vikas Bahl, who impressed earlier with Queen & Super 30 was partly successful this time. Though the movie has very thin story line, he tried to add multiple layers of life to it and tried exploring those topics in depth, which made this movie look a little boring and dragged.

Overall, Goodbye is a decent family entertainer that can be watched for Amitabh Bachchan’s performance and few emotional scenes.

Plus Points:

Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta

Music & BGM

Minus Points:

Few Dragged scenes

Unwanted life lessons

Rating: 2.75/5
