Verdict

Post pandemic film makers have made many movies, series and short movies on the struggles and the situations experienced by people in India. India Lockdown movie is a similar movie that tried to showcase the struggle of people from different sections, who had very hard time during the pandemic. But all the stories from this movie are already presented in few other movies and series in different languages. The story of Prateik Babbar, Sai Tamhankar is the only the saving grace of this film, as this part of the movie works well showcasing the struggle of people trying to reach their home town, who migrated to cities for their living. Though movie had some good performances, it doesn’t create any impact with the story telling and making, as audience have many such movies earlier.

While it comes to performances, Prateik Babbar as Madhav looks very natural and gave a good performance. Sai Tamhankar as Prateik’s wife is very good and her screen presence is an added advantage. Shweta Basu Prasad was decent in the role of sex worker Mehrunissa. Prakash Belawadi was impressive in his role who is stuck in different city and trying to reach his daughter. Aahana Kumar, Zarin Shihab and all other actors did their part well as required for the story.

Technically India Lockdown movie looks average. Music and background score of this movie is not up to the mark and doesn’t create any impact on the scenes. Cinematography by Palash Das & Keiko Nakahara looks very average with some over saturated colors through out the film. Production values of the movie are average.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar, who delivered an average movie ‘Babli Bouncer’ already this year, failed to impress with ‘India Lockdown’ once again. Though the movie is made with noble thoughts of showcasing the struggles of Indians during the pandemic, scenes written based on this situations missed the emotions that could not connect with the audience.

Overall, India Lockdown movie is good in parts, but as an entire movie it lacks the interest and the emotion that is relatable.

Plus Points:

  • Performances
  • Few emotional scenes

Minus Points:

  • Routine scenes
  • Boring narration

Rating: 2.5/5
