Kaali Venkat Early Life
Venkat is originally from the nearby village of Kudaiyadevanpatti. During his school years, Venkat frequently participated in school productions as an actor. After deciding that acting was his calling, he uprooted his life and headed to Chennai, the film industry’s hub, in 1997. Before meeting director Vijay Prabakaran, he was selling groceries and other odd jobs in Chennai. To quote Venkat, “all I know about cinema today” was taught to me by my mentor Prabakaran. On October 30th, 2017, Venkat tied the knot in Chennai. Kaali Venkat’s wife’s name is Janani.
Kaali Venkat Career
Thasaiyinai Thee Sudinum, the first film in which Venkat appeared, was directed by Vijay Prabhakaran. All the crew began referring to Venkat as “Kaali” throughout filming, so he decided to adopt the name permanently. The third season of the Kalaignar TV serial Naalaya Iyakkunar, in which he appeared, earned him the Best Actor in a Series Award.
His breakthrough came in the action drama Thadaiyara Thaakka, after a string of supporting appearances in other films. He was able to parlay his success in the short films into supporting roles in feature films like Kalakalappu and Udhayam NH4. Due to his prominent role in the sleeper blockbuster mystery flick Thegidi, Venkat claims he has been inundated with Facebook friend requests ever since the movie’s debut.
To name just a few of his cinema credits, Venkat has appeared in Mundaasupatti, Kaathadi, Urumeen, India Pakistan, and Eetti. In the feature film adaptation of the short film of the same name, Mundaasupatti, Venkat plays the role of Azhagasami, a photographer’s assistant. Kaali played a boozy dad in Irudhi Suttru and a politician’s devoted ally in Kodi in 2016. His acting debut was in Suriya’s 2020 film Soorarai Potru. Recently, he impressed everyone with his performance in Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Gargi’.
