Movie Verdict

Maja Ma starts slowly by establishing the each character by making us understand the world around them. Though this movie story line is way older, treatment & narration makes this movie interesting to watch partly. Movie has some good scenes that will grab the attention and also makes audience tired with few other unnecessary over dramatic scenes. Few funny dialogues and funny situations that arise during the story flow will definitely make us laugh, but the emotional scenes in this movie didn’t work well and makes us feel bored with over the type writing.

While it comes to acting, Madhuri Dixit looks as charming as ever and gave decent performance in the role of Pallavi. Gajaraj Rao is the show stealer in this movie, his way of dialogue delivery, his comedy timing and his performance in emotional scenes are top notch. It would be great if Hindi film industry casts him in more films. Ritwik Bhowmik as Madhuri’s son looks good on screen and his performance is decent. Srishti Shrivastava is an actress who can make any role look believable with her performance, just like she did in this movie. Ninad Kamat, Rajit Kapur, Barkha Singh and all other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically Maja Ma looks good. Music composed by Souumil & Siddharth, Gourov Dasgupta, Anurag Sharma are good, that will make your feet tap with the beats. Background score of the movie is also apt for the genre. Cinematography handled by Debojeet Ray was good with some colorful frames with colorful setup through out the movie. Production values are good.

Director Anand Tiwari tried to provide a wholesome family entertainer with ‘Maja Ma’. Though few scenes worked out very well, overall movie looks little disappointing with some old making and writing.

Overall, Maja Ma is a clean family entertainer that can be watched with your family this Navaratri.

Plus Points:

Gajaraj Rao

Music

Few Comedy Scenes

Minus Points:

Emotional scenes

Old Writing

Narration

Rating: 2.75/5
