Verdict

We have seen many spy movies in the past and present, but the story never gets old as the protagonist in the movie will have to go through many challenges to gather the required information and the scenes that involve this process will keeps us engaged. Mission Majnu movie definitely has few such scenes that engages us through out the movie, but the overall execution fails to create an impact like other spy thriller movies.

Zee5 has released a web series recently titled ‘Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy’, which runs on a similar story line of an Indian spy residing in Pakistan, gathering all the information as an undercover agent to stop the attack of Pakistani army in India. While watching Mission Majnu movie, we will definitely get the glimpses from this series, if you have already watched it on Zee5. Love scenes between Sidharth and Rashmika looks very artificial as well.

While it comes to performances, Sidharth Malhotra tried his best to get into the role of Amandeep Singh a RAW agent. But he needs to keep more efforts in improving his performance, while choosing such hard hitting roles to play on screen. Rashmika Mandanna looks beautiful in few scenes, but her performance once again disappoints with unwanted expressions for the character. Kumud Mishra is perfect and did his role well as usual and Sharib Hashmi was decent, but his makeup looks weird. All other actors did their part well as required for their characters.

Technically Mission Majnu movie looks good. Music and background score composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Arko is one of the major highlights in the movie. Cinematography by Bijitesh De was good for some scenes, but few other scenes looks odd with over saturated colors. Production values could have been better, as ‘Mukhbir’ series looked much more authentic in terms of art design & costumes.

Director Shantanu Bagchi tried to entertain the audience with this spy thriller, but only for few scenes. Many other scenes from the movie will definitely remind us of few other scenes from spy movies that released in the past. He could also have taken more care about the action sequences in the movie.

Overall, Mission Majnu movie is a good spy thriller, but only to some extent. You can definitely stream this movie on Netflix, if you haven’t watched spy thrillers earlier in Hindi and if you are a big fan of Sidharth Malhotra.

Plus Points:

  • Premise
