Movie Verdict

‘Monica, O My Darling’ is a different movie that has the thrill filled with comedy added to it and this movie cannot be added to any kind of genre as it has multiple elements included in the story. Though the plot of the movie is simple and few of the scenes are predictable, this inclusion of multiple genres in the movie makes it interesting to watch. Creating fun amidst of some serious situations and in crime scenes is what makes this movie different from other thrillers. Movie does not have too many twists, but the narration of the movie keeps us guessing till the end.

While it comes to the performances, Rajkummar Rao is excellent as Jayant Arkhedkar who has different shades throughout the film and he has portrayed his role perfectly on screen. Huma Qureshi has limited screen presence and she was good as always. Radhika Apte shines as ACP Naidu, who has a weird humor despite of her challenging job. Sikandar Kher as Nishikant Adhikari looks royal and gave a decent performance. Bagavathi Perumal provides the required comic relief in the movie. Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and all other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically ‘Monica, O My Darling’ looks good. Music and background score composed by Achint Thakkar looks very apt for the genre and makes the audience to feel the thrill. Swapnil S Sonawane cinematography is another major highlight of the film, all his visuals and frames creates the dark mood that will make the movie more intriguing. Atanu Mukherjee editing is on the point and has no unwanted scenes. Production values are very good.

Director Vasan Bala who impressed with his making earlier with the film ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ and 2 stories from ‘Ray’ anthology is successful once again in engaging the audience with his making style. Though movie has few flaws, he managed to keep the audience intrigued till the end.

Overall, ‘Monica, O My Darling’ is an interesting thriller movie that can be watched for some wonderful performances from the lead actors. You can definitely stream this movie on Netflix for a thrilling new experience.
