Movie Verdict
Taapsee Pannu is one of the most under utilized actors in the Bollywood. She has come up with some interesting scripts and movies showcasing her talent and proving her mettle as an actor. Sports dramas and biopics have become a routine in the Hindi cinema recently, we have watched a lot of movies based on the real life stories of many sports players, which might look similar if there is no proper treatment of the story.
The story of a person who experiences all the difficulties in life to achieve something big is a very common point even from the past movies, however what makes this movie special is the screenplay. Though many scenes look the same from some of the biopics, the screenplay makes this movie worth watching with some good scenes. Though there are a few dragged and dull scenes in the first and later half of the film, movie will surely inspire the women out there.
Taapsee Pannu once again shines in a role that has many variations in it. Though she did her part well, we get a feeling that she is repetitive with her performance, as we have seen her earlier in Rashmi Rocket, where her character is an athlete. It is time for her to look into the scripts she is choosing, as performance may look the same if the movie has similar plot lines.
Technically movie looks okay. Amit Trivedi Songs sounds good and not that extra-ordinary. Sirsha Ray did a good job with the camera and the production values of the movie look average. Director Srijit Mukherji tried his best to make the movie look interesting with his style of making and screenplay.
Finally, Shabaash Mithu is an inspiring real life journey that has to be watched in theatres.
