Series Verdict
India have a wide variety of audience, who love to watch different genre movies and as everyone are busy with work, they are unable to sit back for more than 2 hours to watch a film in theatres. As web series were introduced in India, people started watching different series on different OTT platforms whenever the time permits and can pause watching it, if they aren’t interested. This made the OTT platforms to invest more money on original series that could bring them more viewership and subscriptions to their platforms.
Making a series with single story is easy, as every episode will create some kind of curiosity among the audience by the end and makes them watch next episode. But in case of a web series with different stories, it is not that easy to convince the audience to watch the full series, if the first episode in that series didn’t work out. ‘Story of Things’ creates the interest with the very first episode and continues it till the last episode, though there are few scenes from different episode that look illogical and boring, overall presentation of these short stories will definitely gives some thrill while watching. As this series have different stories, we do not want to spoil your excitement by revealing anything important from it, you can have a look on the trailer once again to decide, if you should watch this series.
While it comes to acting performances, actress Gautami pulled off her role very well with very settled expressions. Aditi Balan once again proved how good she can perform, if offered a good role. Vinod Kishan is one such talented actor in Tamil, who always impresses with his performances, but receives very less opportunities in movies, he once again gave a decent performance. Ritika Singh and Roju could have been better. Senior actors Siddique and Archana did very well. All other actors did their part well as required for the story.
Technically ‘Story of Things’ series looks very good. Background music composed by Madley Blues (Prashanth Techno and Harish Venkat) for this series is on of the major highlights, as the background score keeps you invested in the series till the last episode. Cinematography by Harshvardhan Waghdhare is another major highlight in this series, he managed to get the best output for every story and also created the mood of that particular story with the natural lighting, colors. Editing is crisp. Productions values of this series are decent.
Director George K. Antoney have created some interesting stories with very usual fictional thoughts that we go through in our every day life and made sure that these stories have some thrilling point that could connect with the audience. He definitely succeeded in creating the interest with his story telling skills, though series has different stories that are different from each other.
