Movie Verdict
Tadka is an official remake of ‘Ulavacharu Biryani/Oggarane/Un Samayal Arayil’ that was directed by Prakash Raj himself and released in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil. This movie is a mix of love between people and love for food. You will definitely fall in love with the Indian food after watching this movie. Movie blends the emotions perfectly with some good performances by the lead actors. There are few fun generating scenes that will also make you chuckle. But the final part of the movie may feel dragged and boring though the emotions worked out well in those scenes.
While it comes to acting performances, Nana Patekar is exceptional as usual in the role of Tukaram. He can still make audience laugh with his serious actions and gestures on screen. Shriya Saran as Madhura is decent and did what is required for the role. Ali Fazal looks energetic on screen and his screen presence is biggest plus. Taapsee Pannu is okay in her role, as she looks routine with her expressions. Rajesh Sharma did his part well with limited screen time. All other actors did their part well as required for the story.
Technically Tadka looks okay. Music composed by Kapil Jangir is not up to the mark. Original version of this movie’s music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, which had a beautiful song about Indian food sung by Kailash Kher, you will miss that magic in this remake. Cinematography by Preetha Jayaraman is good in parts. Editor Sreekar Prasad could have removed few unwanted stretched scenes to make this movie more interesting to watch. Production values are good.
Director Prakash Raj, who is known for his award winning acting performances is impressive as a director in showcasing simple emotions blended with love for food. Though few scenes look stretched, Prakash Raj will definitely impress the audience with his making style.
Overall, Tadka is a simple drama that will make your mouth water by showcasing different type of Indian foods on screen. You can definitely stream this movie on Zee5.
