Movie Verdict

Thank God is not apt for present day scenario as films these days are more sensible and follows some standards in terms of making. Thank God is an age old story, with an age old making style and age old dialogues that are no longer funny. This film looks very outdated right from the beginning and throughout the runtime maintains same outdated in terms of making and everything. Though few jokes make us laugh here and there, the overall movie makes us feel exhausted.

While it comes to the performances, Sidharth Malhotra who impressed everyone with his portrayal in ‘Shershaah’ will disappoint in ‘Thank God’ and one might feel why would Sidharth choose such a subject after getting good success with ‘Shershaah’. Ajay Devgn looks okay in his role and it is not good to see such an actor in films like these. Rakul Preet Singh has nothing much to do in the movie. Abhinay Raj Singh, Saanand Verma and all other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically Thank God movie looks very average with songs composed by Himesh Reshammiya, which are forgettable and famous Srilankan song rip off can be easily ignored. Even the background score for the film looks so immature. Cinematography by Aseem Bajaj looks good only for few scenes. Editing could have been much better that could have made movie more interesting. VFX are not that good, though the production values look good.

Director Indra Kumar have delivered some blockbusters in the past and there is no doubt about it. His recent movies are either adult comedies that targets certain section of audience or senseless comedy movies that are totally outdated. It is time for Indra Kumar to reconsider his scripts and concentrate more on his making style rather than making movies like this.

Overall, Thank God is an average entertainer that offers a few laughs here and there.

Plus Points:

  • Few Comedy Scenes

Minus Points:

  • Old Script
  • Outdated Making
  • Technical Department
  • Direction

Rating: 2.25/5
