Vishal Bhardwaj Biography

Vishal Bhardwaj Education

After finishing elementary school in Najibabad, Vishal and his family relocated to Meerut, where he soon found himself playing cricket for the state’s Under-19 squad. Bharadwaj eventually relocated to Delhi, where he enrolled at the University of Delhi’s Hindu College to earn his degree.

Vishal Bhardwaj Early Life

Born to a family of Brahmins on August 4, 1965 (Age: 54 as of 2018) in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India, Vishal Bharadwaj is now 54 years old. Both Ram Bharadwaj Sr., a sugarcane inspector, and his wife, a housewife, raised him. His father was also a poet and lyricist for Hindi movies.  Because of a thumb injury sustained during practise, he was forced to abandon his cricket career. He wrote his first song at the tender age of seventeen. His father was so moved by the song that he brought up his thoughts with Usha Khanna, the film’s composer. In the movie Yaar Kasam, she sang that song (1985).

The son of Ram and Satya Bharadwaj, Vishal Bharadwaj was born to them. He had a brother who died tragically young while pursuing a career in film production in Mumbai. He wed Rekha Bhardwaj, a fellow music student and playback vocalist. They first connected at a University of Delhi party. His better half was a year older than he was. Together, they raised a son named Aasmaan.

Vishal Bhardwaj Career

In the past, he and his pals would get together and perform ghazals while he played the harmonium. It wasn’t until a few years later that he landed a job at CBC, a music label in Delhi. He eventually settled in Mumbai, where he worked as a composer. His first film score was for Abhay in 1995, marking his entry into the industry (The Fearless). He was given the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent after his work as the music director on Gulzar’s “Maachis.” His work on the soundtrack for the 2000 film Godmother earned him the National Film Award for Best Music Direction (1999).

His first feature film, the horror flick “Makdee,” was released in 2002 under his direction. When Vishal read ‘Macbeth’ by William Shakespeare, he was so moved by the story that he decided to adapt it into a film. It was then that he joined forces with Abbas Tyrewala. The movie debuted in 2003 under the title Maqbool. The story of the movie revolved around the criminal underworld of Mumbai.

Maqbool was recognised as one of the top 100 best Hindi films by CNN-IBN. It was named by film critic Raja Sen as one of the top 75 Hindi films of the decade in 2010. His 2007 short film “Blood Brother” has a running span of under 13 minutes. The video depicts the downward spiral of a young man who is HIV positive.

He directed the 2009 film “Kaminey,” which starred Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Over $10 million was made from the film’s release. Later, he found further motivation in Ruskin Bond’s short novel “Susanna’s Seven Husbands.” A movie on it, titled “7 Khoon Maaf,” directed by Vishal and released in 2011, is one example.

In addition to Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Rangoon, Pataakha, etc., he has directed a number of other films. His first feature film, “Ishqiya,” starred Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Arshad Warsi, and was his directorial debut. Other films that Vishal has produced include “Ek Thi Daayan” (with Balaji Motion Pictures and Ekta Kapoor) and “Dedh Ishqiya.” He collaborated with Gulzar on the production of the 2015 crime drama Talvar. In addition to his work as a composer, he has also provided his voice for a wide variety of films (including No Smoking, Omkara, U Me Aur Hum, Striker, Kaminey, Haider, etc.).
