Verdict

Director Bobby has promoted this movie as one of the best commercial movies made in the career of Megastar Chiranjeevi and he have directed the movie as a big fan of Megastar. He also promised Megastar fans that he will definitely present the vintage Megastar on screen and looks like Bobby had delivered, what he promised to some extent with Waltair Veerayya.

Waltair Veerayya is a movie that is made completely to celebrate the mass euphoria of Megastar Chiranjeevi on screen, but movie should have some interesting story and scenes that could elevate the greatness of actor, rather being a copy cat of his old movies. Waltair Veerayya has many references from Chiranjeevi’s old movies, which are bearable to some extent but definitely feels bore after few scenes. Waltair Veerayya has very weak story that could hardly engage the audience with very weakly written scenes. Only relief in the movie being the scenes that has Raviteja and Chiranjeevi together.

While it comes to acting performances, Megastar Chiranjeevi is a brilliant actor and there is no doubt about it, but from last few movies, he looked like trying to imitate himself on screen from his old movies. Megastar’s graceful dance moves are always a treat to watch on screen. Raviteja character is not well written, but he managed to pull off the character with ease. Shruti Haasan is okay in limited scenes. Catherine Tresa, Bobby Simha and all other actors did their part well.

Technically Waltair Veerayya movie looks good. Cinematography by Arthur A Wilson is one of the major highlights from the movie. Though few scenes look with over saturated colors, visuals in the movie look very colorful. Songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad are forgettable and his background score is impact less. Dance choreography another highlight in the movie, that will make the fans cheer during the songs. VFX could have taken more care of. Production values are high.

Directer KS Ravindra (Bobby Kolli) has delivered commercial entertainers in the past and followed the same strategy in this movie, that didn’t workout due to very weak script and characters in the movie.

Overall, Waltair Veerayya movie is strictly made for fans and we need to wait for the response for the movie from other section of audience to confirm if the movie will be a Sankranthi hit.

Plus Points:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Few scenes involving Raviteja and Chiranjeevi

Minus Points:

  • Music and background score
  • Story
  • Screenplay

Rating: 2.5/5
