Charmy Kaur (born May 17, 1987), whose name can also be spelled Charmme or Charmi, is an Indian film producer and actor. She has primarily worked in Telugu films, but she has also appeared in a handful of films in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. More than forty movies have included her acting.
A member of a Punjabi-Sikh family, Charmy Kaur was born in Vasai. Deep Singh Uppal and Deepak Kaur Uppal are her parents. She attended the Vasai, India Carmelite Convent for her high school education.
Charmy Kaur Career
At the age of 15, she made her acting debut in the Telugu film Nee Thodu Kavali (2002). Though the movie bombed at the box office, Charmy was able to gain some notoriety in the south Indian film industry thanks to her participation in it. After that, she co-starred with Silambarasan in T. Rajendar’s Kadhal Azhivathillai (also in Tamil). In that time period, she starred in Vinayan’s Kattuchembakam, a Malayalam film. Her comeback to Telugu cinema began with Srikanth’s Neeke Manasichaanu; subsequent films included Sri Anjaneyam, directed by Krishna Vamsi, and Chanti, starring Ravi Teja in a dramatic role. Gowri, in which she costarred with Sumanth, was her major break in Telugu.
Once again, Charmy starred alongside Ravi Teja in Ram Gopal Varma’s Dongala Mutha. She had cameo roles in 2012’s Dhamarukam, Naayak, and Yaare Koogadali, among others. After that, she had appearances in Hindi films like Zila Ghaziabad and R… Rajkumar. Just recently, she was featured in Puri Jagannadh’s Jyothi Lakshmi. It was in her 50th film, Pratighatana, that she played a journalist. While Charmme Kaur produced her own film, Jyothi Lakshmi, she also co-produced Rogue, a Telugu and Kannada bilingual starring debutante Ishan, and Paisa Vasool, starring Nandamuri Bala Krishna. All three films were helmed by Puri Jagannadh, a renowned filmmaker in South India.
“Puri Connects” is a production house, as well as a media-related events, marketing, She is currently working with her close friend, Director Puri Jagannadh, to co-produce the film Mehbooba under the Puri Connects Banner. Puri Jagannadh will also direct the film and co-produce it under his Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies Banner, with the intention of introducing his son, Akash Puri, to the film industry. As of May 2019, Charmme Kaur had said she would no longer act and instead focus on producing movies. The next Bollywood film Liger is being produced by Charmme Kaur and “Puri Connects” in association with Dharma Productions.
