Against everyone’s advise, he moved to Madras and joined the Jandhyala team after getting married. On Rendu Rellu Aaru, he and Jandhyala collaborated (1986). After that, he entered the film industry and began working in production.

During their time working together on multiple films, Danayya and E. V. V. Satyanarayana became fast friends. Danayya worked with EVV as a co-producer on his first feature film as a filmmaker, the fantasy comedy Jamba Lakidi Pamba (1993). Later, he collaborated with E. V. V. Satyanarayana on the average-grossing film Maavidaakulu (1998). Samudram (1999), directed by Krishna Vamsi, was his next film and a moderate financial success. Manasunna Maaraju (2000), directed by Muthyala Subbaiah, is a remake of Kottaram Veettile Apputtan (1998), a Malayalam film. It was a financial smash hit.

His next film, starring Balakrishna, Seema Simham (2002), bombed at the box office. His 2003 Telugu film Juniors, starring Allari Naresh, was a remake of the 2002 Tamil film Thulluvadho Ilamai. The movie was a financial failure. Oka Radha Iddaru Krishnula Pelli (2003), his second film, was a huge hit with audiences.

In 2003, he promoted the commercially successful film Sivamani, which had been produced and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Allu Arjun starred in the next film he worked on, Desamuduru (2006), which was directed by Puri Jagannadh. It was a huge success and one of 2007’s top-grossing Telugu movies. After that, he had a string of hits including Dubai Seenu (2007), Krishna (2008), Oy! (2009), Julayi (2012), Naayak (2013), Ninnu Kori (2017), Bharat Ane Nenu (2018), and RRR (Royal Roarers Return) (2022). In terms of budget, RRR is unrivalled; it’s also the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of all time. At the 47th Saturn Awards, it was up for three awards, including Best Action/Adventure Film and Best International Film.
