Sathyaraj, whose given name at birth was Rangaraj, was born on October 3, 1954, to doctor Subbiah and Nathambal. He has two younger sisters, Kalpana Mandradiar and Roopa Senapathy. His two favorite actors are M. G. Ramachandran and Rajesh Khanna, both of whom he adores.

Sathyaraj attended St. Mary’s Convent school for his elementary education before moving on to Suburban High School in Ramnagar, also in Coimbatore, for high school. He earned his BS in botany from Government Arts College in Coimbatore. While Sathyaraj always wanted to pursue a career in acting, his mother strictly forbade him to do so.

Sathyaraj Early Life

Early in his career, from 1978 and 1982, he performed mostly lesser villain roles as a henchman to M. N. Nambiar and other villains, while stars like Sivaji Ganesan, Jaishankar, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, and Vijayakanth took center stage. In 1984, Manivannan, a college buddy of Sathyaraj’s, directed the Tamil film January 1 in which Sathyaraj had a minor part. Between 1984 and 2013, Manivannan directed roughly 25 films, with Sathyaraj playing the lead in 18 of them.

His first film role was as the antagonist in his friend Manivannan’s debut feature, “Irupatthi Naalu Mani Neram.” In the films that followed, Nooravathu Naal and Anbin Mugavari, he likewise played a villain. In the film “Kadalora Kavithaigal,” he played the main role for the first time.
