Soori Biography

Soori Education

First appearing in the film Ninaivirukkum Varai in 2001, he began his career at that time. He went on to make several more film appearances after his initial success, earning him acclaim from the Tamil film industry for his performance. He continued to work as a comedian after the success of Vennila Kabadi Kulu, appearing in films like Kalavani and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam.

Soori Early Life

In 1996, Soori relocated from Madurai to Chennai in pursuit of a career in Tamil cinema. He tried his luck as an actor but was continually rejected, so he settled for a job as a city sweeper. Sumathi, a friend from Soori’s early days in Chennai who helped him out with both food and transportation, connected him to a casting agency. After that, in the 1998 village drama Maru Malarchi, Soori made his debut as a bystander in the crowd. Soori kept making set visits until he finally managed to persuade an art department employee at Thotta Tharani to take him on as an apprentice.

Soori Career

Soori worked in the film industry from 1999 to 2003 in a variety of roles, including set assistant, photo plate trainee, and electrician. In films like Winner, where he did not receive credit, he occasionally played a supporting character with comedic parts (2003). After the release of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, the actor became widely known as “Parotta” (2009).

The hilarious “parotta competition” scene in which Soori stuns the hotelier by eating 50 parottas and getting ready to eat the same number again inspired the addition of this suffix to his name. His charismatic on-screen presence and hilarious one-liners have made Soori a staple of films set in rural areas. Actors Sivakarthikeyan, Vimal, M. Sasikumar, and Vishal are all great choices for the role of Soori. After making waves in films like Sundarapandian (2012), Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (2013), Pandiya Naadu (2013), and Jilla (2013), he has finally broken through to the mainstream (2014).

He had a lot of success with his comedic efforts in Rajini Murugan (2016), Idhu Namma Aalu (2016), Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran (2016), and Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae (2017). Both Seema Raja (2018), directed by Sivakarthikeyan, and Saamy Square, directed by Vikram, featured him (2018). On the other hand, his work in these two movies was panned severely. Namma Veettu Pillai (2019) and Sangathamizhan (2019) were Soori’s most recent two films to come out.
