Aashiq Abu was born on April 12, 1978, in the city of Edappally in the Indian state of Kerala. The Abu family of Aashiq now makes their home in Kochi, Kerala. Jameela Abu and C. M. Abu are his parents. Rima Kallingal, an actress in Mollywood movies and television shows, is Asiq Abu’s wife as of their November 1st, 2013 wedding. He got his start in the industry working for acclaimed Mollywood director Kamal as an assistant.

The Malayalam film “Daddy Cool,” starring Mammootty and Richa Pallod, marked his directing debut in 2009. The rights to recreate “Salt N’ Pepper” in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi were purchased by Prakash Raj, and it was his second film. His film “22 Female Kottayam,” released in 2012. His subsequent film directing credits include Da Thadiya, Gangster, and Rani Padmini. Commercials for Joyalukkas, Mathrubhumi, Panasonic, Lulu Group, Dubai Gold, and others were directed by him. He established OPM Cinemas, a production firm, in 2012. He has two films—”Gangster” and “Maheshinte Prathikaaram”—under his production company’s name.
