Aditi Rao Hydari Biography

Aditi Rao Hydari Education

She attended the A Krishnamurthy Foundation India School and afterwards earned a degree from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.

Aditi Rao Hydari Early Life

Aditi Rao Hydari is the daughter of renowned classical singer Ehsaan Hydari and his wife Vidya Rao, who is known for her work in the thumri and dadra styles. Her Bohri Muslim father passed away in 2013, and her Buddhist Chitrapur Saraswat mother from Mangalore, who is also half-Telugu, raised her. Therefore, Hydari comes from a Bohri, Chitrapur Saraswat, and Telugu family tree.

Hydari comes from the royal families of both sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari and Raja J. Rameshwar Rao, the former Raja of Wanaparthy. She is the grandniece of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, who served as Governor of Assam, and the great-granddaughter of Akbar Hydari, the former Prime Minister of Hyderabad state (colonial India).

Aditi is the granddaughter of Shanta Rameshwar Rao, a prominent educator in the city of Hyderabad, the founder of Vidyaranya school, and the chairperson of the publishing house Orient Blackswan. Her great-grandfather, Raja J Rameshwar Rao, was the administrator of the state of Wanaparthi during colonial India. Her maternal first cousin is director Kiran Rao, who was once married to actor Aamir Khan. By the time Hydari was two years old, her parents had already decided to split up.

She was raised by a mother who relocated from Hyderabad to New Delhi and took over the family business. Her mother remained a single parent while her father remarried and had no further children. The young Hydari split her formative years between the Indian cities of Hyderabad and New Delhi. At age six, she began training in Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of renowned dancer Leela Samson. Hydari takes the last names of both her mom and dad. She went on to say, “Although my mother is my primary caretaker, my father is an integral part of who I am. Due to the rarity of the name Hydari, I decided to keep it together with Rao.”

She reprised her supporting role opposite Irrfan Khan in the 2011 film Yeh Saali Zindagi, a romantic thriller. Following that, she portrayed a reporter in Imtiaz Ali’s romance drama Rockstar. Against Ali Zafar’s lead performance in 2012’s London, Paris, New York, Aditi was cast as the main female protagonist.
