Katrina Turquotte Kaif was born on July 16, 1983, in Hong Kong. London, United Kingdom is the place she calls home. Kat, Katz, Katy, and Sambo are just a few of the nicknames her pals have given her. While she was still a young girl, she did a lot of travelling. After she was born in Hong Kong, her family scattered to different places across Asia and Europe. Afterwards, they jetted out to Belgium and finally the Aloha State. Her family uprooted and spent almost three years in England, where her mother was born, when she was 14 years old. She started her modelling career at 17 and soon after relocated to India. She revealed during an interview that she had not spoken to her father in a long time. After moving to India, she decided to adopt her father’s surname, Kaif, because she felt it would be easier to say than her mother’s.
Katrina Kaif’s parents are Mohammed Kaif, a British businessman, and Suzanne Turquotte, an English lawyer and charity worker. Her mother is a Christian, while both of her parents are Muslims. Originally from the United Kingdom, she currently resides in the United States. Her mother is the director of the nonprofit organisation Relief Projects India, which aims to end the practise of infanticide against girls and to find safe homes for those who have been left behind. Katrina is a big assistance to her mom in the shop where she works. Michael, her older brother, has three older sisters; Stephanie, Christine, and Natasha; and Melissa, Sonia, and Isabel, her younger sisters.

She was only 14 when she won a beauty pageant in Hawaii. Afterward, Katrina moved to London and launched a career as a fashion model. She formerly laboured as a free agent. During London Fashion Week, she has also made appearances. Filmmaker Kaizad Gustad saw one of her fashion displays and placed her in his film Boom in 2003, marking her Bollywood debut; the film bombed at the box office. According to reports, the film bombed because of her subpar Hindi skills. After that, she dedicated herself to learning Hindi and went on to star in a string of successful films, including Namastey London (2007), Welcome (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Bodyguard (2011), etc. She has also appeared in films from Telugu and Malayalam, such as Malliswari (2004), Allari Pidugu (2005), and Balram vs. Tharadas (2007).
