Ajith is the middle son of the three. He is known as Thala of Tollywood Cinema and is one of the highest-paid actors in the country. He’s won a lot of awards, like the Tamil Nadu State Filmfare Kalaimamani Awards.
Ajith’s first movie role was in the 1992 Telugu movie Prema Pustagam, when he was 21 years old. His next movie was Amaravathi, which was a huge hit in Tamil. His second Tamil movie, Pavithra, didn’t come out for 17 months because he hurt himself racing and had to stay in bed. Both movies were very well liked by the Tamil audience. Ten months later, in 1995, his third Tamil movie, Aasai, which was directed by Vasanth and produced by Mani Rathnam, came out. This movie helped him get started as an actor in Kollywood.
Ajith’s first big-budget movie was Aasai, but he didn’t become known as an actor in Kollywood until Agathiyan’s hit movie Vaanmathi and especially the National Award-winning movie Kadhal Kottai came out. Later, Ajith played the main role in Ullasam, which was Amitabh Bachchan’s first Tamil movie. For the first time ever, he made more than Rs. 1 million from this project.
After that, he was in a series of very successful movies, such as Kadhal Mannan and Vaali, which starred Simran. Vaali saw Ajith’s career reach a new high point. He had two roles in the movie. One is a twin who is deaf and dumb and wants his brother’s wife. After Amarkalam, Ajith set up his own distribution company, AK International, with his then-girlfriend Shalini, who is now his wife. The office was in the same building as NIC Arts, which was run by his ex-friend, producer, and distributor S. S. Chakravarthi. In 2006, this office was moved.
