AR Murugadoss Biography
AR Murugadoss Education
After graduating from Government Higher Secondary School, Murugadoss attended Bishop Heber Co. for his Bachelor of Arts degree. As a student at university, Murugadoss participated in a variety of artistic activities, particularly those involving mimicry and painting. As a result, he became a film buff, seeing as many as seven movies each week in his hometown, and even began to dabble in comedy writing. With their publication in Ananda Vikatan, Murugadoss began to consider taking up fiction writing full-time. It was at Bharathidasan University that he first attempted writing and performing in sketch comedy.

Murugadoss’s hometown is Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu, where he was also born. After Murugadoss signed his first film, Dheena, in 2001, he began using the initials “AR,” which stand for his father’s name Arunasalam. Virugambakkam, Chennai is Murugadoss’s current home.
AR Murugadoss Career
He applied to the Madras Film Institute after finishing college, but was turned down. Even nevertheless, Murugadoss remained in Chennai serving in a variety of capacities. His first job in the industry was as P. Kalaimani’s assistant, when he contributed lines to the Tamil film Madurai Meenakshi. Halfway through production on Ratchagan (1997), he was promoted to assistant director. He later took on the same role in the Telugu film Kalusukundam. Ra. On the film Kushi, Murugadoss teamed up with S. J. Surya.
In 2003, he considered working with producer Oscar Ravichandran on a film titled Varathan, which would have starred Vikram. When Ajith Kumar was looking for a director for his first film, Dheena, S. J. Suryah suggested Murugadoss. The following movies he directed were Ramana, Ghajini, and Stalin. Ghajini, the Hindi version of his film from 2005 of the same name, was his first feature in Bollywood. On its first release date of 25 December 2008, it broke the record for highest opening weekend domestic gross for a Bollywood film with over 100 crore. Released on Diwali 2011, his next Tamil film, 7aum Arivu, was more popular in countries other than Tamil Nadu than in his home state. Murugadoss has inked an agreement with Fox Star Studios to produce two Tamil films.
