On June 19, 1960, in the city of Kannur in the Indian state of Kerala, Ashish Vidyarthi entered the world. His Bengali mother, Reba Vidyarthi, and Malayali father, Govind Vidyarthi, were both well-known in the world of Kathak dancing. Ashish received praise for his excellent humorous and dramatic performances while a student at Mehta Vidyalaya, part of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He went to Hindu College and majored in History, where he graduated with honors.
