If a movie works well in any language, makers will soon get the rights of that movie and remake it with few changes to make it appealing for the audience of particular language. Butta Bomma is one such remake of Malayalam super hit movie ‘Kappela’, which was praised by many critics for the screenplay and performances from the lead actors. Butta Bomma lacked the same magic that was created by the original in Malayalam.

Butta Bomma has few changes to suit the nativity of Telugu audience, but the movie doesn’t look as interesting as the original. We definitely feel that the emotional connect is missing like the original in Malayalam. Movie starts slowly by introducing the characters and the slow pace narration makes us loose the interest, movie picks up the pace only after the entry of Arjun Das’s character. With an unexpected twist in the second half of the movie movie looks more interesting only during the later half.

While it comes to performances, movie most part depends on the performance of Anikha Surendran and she managed very well to some extent, but she needs a little more improvement to understand the emotion of characters. Surya Vashistta was decent in his role with multiple shades. Arjun Das character is well designed and he also did a good job in the role offered to him. All other actors did their part as required for the characters in the story.

Technically Butta Bomma movie looks okay. Songs composed by Gopi Sundar are one of the plus points in the movie and background score composed by him is apt for the situations. Cinematography by Vamsi Patchipulusu is good, but when compored with Kappela, it misses the excellent visuals that were captured in original movie. Production values by Sithara Entertainments are not up to the mark, as we see many compromises in the making.

Director Shouree Chandrashekhar T Ramesh tried to present the movie with not many changes made to it. But was only partially successful in making the movie interesting to watch as per the sensibilities of Telugu audience.

Overall, Butta Bomma is a watchable movie in theatres only if you haven’t watched the original from Malayalam.
