Megastar or Chiranjeevi is the stage name of Indian actor, producer, and ex-politician Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad. Over the course of four decades and more than 150 films, he appeared as a variety of characters and earned numerous prizes, including ten Filmfare Awards. For his contributions to Indian cinema, the Indian government recognised him in 2006 with the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian award.
Also, Andhra University awarded him an honorary doctorate. In the 1978 Telugu film “Pranam Khareedu,” he made his acting debut as the title character, “Narasimha.” After earning Rs. 1.25 crore for his role in the 1992 Telugu film “Gharana Mogudu,” he became India’s highest-paid actor at the time.
In addition, he participated in the Hollywood feature picture The Return of the Thief of Baghdad, which was ultimately scrapped for reasons that remain unclear. He established the “Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust” (CCT) in 1998; it is the leading recipient of eye and blood donations in the state.
