Once known as Gandham, Devi Sri Prasad changed his name to Srinivasa. At the time of writing (2022), Devi Sri Prasad was born on August 2, 1979 (making him 43 years old). He was born in Amalapuram, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. Leo is his zodiac sign. Raised in Madras (now Chennai).
He had a musical bent from an early age, having been influenced by Ilaiyaraaja’s work. Prasad’s mother signed him up for Maestro Sri Mandolin U. Shrinivas’ singing classes when he was a teenager. His dad took him to the movies and he got a lesson on the history of cinema. His dad even gave him a VHS copy of the documentary The Legend Continues. Prasad became a major Michael Jackson fan after viewing the film.
Devi Sri Prasad Career
In 1997, Devi Sri Prasad made his debut as a composer with a song on the album “Dance Party.” In 1999, he made his professional composing debut with his work on the score and soundtrack for the Telugu film Devi. His original score for the film was so well received that he was commissioned to create a Tamil adaptation. In 2001, he broke through with his score for the blockbuster Telugu film Anandam. He entered the Tamil film music scene that same year with his score for Badri.
While Prasad scored five films in 2002, three of them—”Kalusukovalani,” “Manmadhudu,” and “Sontham”—saw massive success thanks to their respective soundtrack CDs. Rapid success in the field of Telugu film soundtrack composition followed. Later, he scored the Telugu films ‘Bommarillu'(2006), ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana'(2006), ‘Gabbar Singh'(2013), ‘Attarintiki Daredi'(2014), ‘Srimanthudu'(2016), ‘S/O Satyamurthy'(2016), ‘Nannaku Prematho'(2017), and ‘Rangasthalam’ (2019).
Many popular Hindi songs, such as “Dhinka Chika” from “Ready” (2011), “Aa Ante Amalapuram” from “Maximum” (2012), “Naacho Re” from “Jai Ho” (2014), and “Seeti Maar” from “Radhe” (2021), have been scored by Devi Sri Prasad.
