Movie Verdict
Double XL is kind of a message oriented film with fun added to the scenes. Most of the scenes in the movie had some serious intentions to convey to the audience, but presented it in lighter and funnier way on screen. First half of the movie moves faster with some fun filled scenes that are well performed by the lead actors, but the later half of the film falls dull with same fun missing. Double XL movie has many scenes that will surely make us think about the size of our body and also fills the courage not to care about the same. Movie ends on a good note about the body shaming that will surely connect with many people in India, who are struggling in their life with the same issue.
While it comes to acting performances, Huma Qureshi score more marks when compared to Sonakshi Sinha as an actor. Both these actors have equal screen time scope to perform in their roles, but Huma Qureshi excels in her role with her comedy timing and spontaneity. Sonakshi Sinha was good in few scenes, but looks like she has to improve a little more in other scenes. Mahat Raghavendra and Zaheer Iqbal has limited screen space and both these actors did their part well. All other actors did their part as required for the story.
Technically Double XL movie looks okay. Music composed by Sohail Sen, Kanishk Seth is okay and the songs sound familiar with some old tunes. Cinematography by Milind Jog is one of the major highlights in the movie. Though the frames are well designed, DI looks average with added colors that look overly bright on screen. Editing by Abhishek Anand is good and has no unwanted scenes in the movie. Production values are good.
Direct Satramm Ramani is successful in providing an entertaining and a though provoking movie with Double XL. Though the movie has few flaws in the making, Satramm Ramani managed to engage the audience with his content till the end.
Overall, Double XL is an entertaining film that will also educate us with it’s premise and content.
