KS Ravikumar’s education details are not available right now as he became a sensational director when Padayappa (1999), the next film to be directed by Ravikumar, starred Rajinikanth and Sivaji Ganesan, both of whom had previously worked with the director. The film’s production was intended to get up in April 1998, however, the FEFSI strike put a halt to those plans.

K. S. Ravikumar Early Life

Director KS Ravikumar (also known as KSR) got his start in Tamil cinema working as Bharathiraja’s assistant before going on to establish his own successful career. The majority (26 films) of his output consists of remakes. K.S.R. has collaborated with Sarath Kumar (ten times), Simran (seven times), and Ramya Krishnan (six times) more than any other trio. It’s interesting to note that KSR and his stunt coordinator Kanal Kannan have worked together on 16 films. In 1990, he directed Puriyaadha Pudhir, a remake of the Kannada film Tarka that was considered groundbreaking in the Tamil film industry. The original novel, “The Unexpected Guest,” by Agatha Christie served as the basis for the Kannada version. In the years following the release of Puriyaadha Pudhir, he had not even considered returning to the stage.

Co-directing Pudhu Vasantham with Vikraman for R. B. Choudary, the film’s success led to Ravikumar being given the opportunity to direct for the first time. Thus, Ravikumar made his directorial debut with Puriyaadha Pudhir (1990), a crime thriller starring Rahman and Raghuvaran. Ravikumar’s only film not to fall into the masala film category, this remake of the Kannada film Tarka received acclaim upon its initial release.

Padayappa (1999), which starred Rajinikanth and Sivaji Ganesan, is one of his most successful films. He also oversaw the 1996 film Avvai Shanmugi, starring Kamal Haasan, which was a near-identical remake of the American comedy film Mrs. Doubtfire. The film, Chachi 420(1997), starring Kamal Haasan, was a huge success thanks in large part to Haasan’s performance. Mrs. Doubtfire was originally made in English, and while the Hindi and Tamil versions are often referred to as Indian remakes, they differ significantly from the original in terms of plot.

A number of his assistants went on to become successful directors in their own right in Tamil cinema; one such director is Director Cheran. Director Gaurav is the most recent member of the group.
