Chidananda Dasgupta, Sen Sharma’s maternal grandfather, was a co-founder of the Calcutta Cinema Society as well as a writer, teacher, scholar, and film critic. Konkona Sen Sharma Career

Konkana Sen Sharma made her acting debut as a child performer in the 1983 film Indira before making her adult acting debut in the Bengali thriller Ek Je Aachhe Kanya (2000). Her mother directed the 2002 English-language movie Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, which is where she first gained attention. She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her work in the movie.

She starred in Kunaal Roy Kapur’s low-budget English-language film The President Is Coming in 2009, to generally favorable reviews. “Performance-wise, it’s the stuffy and complex-ridden Ms. Sen Sharma who walks away with honors and chuckles even as the film takes a healthy giggle at the desi self,” wrote Nikhat Kazmi from The Times of India.
Sen Sharma then co-starred with Farhan Akhtar in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck by Chance.

Her performance received overwhelmingly good reviews from critics after the movie’s release, although its box office take was only average. Sen Sharma’s most recent film from 2009, Wake Up Sid, a coming-of-age comedy-drama with Ranbir Kapoor, was released in 2009. When the movie first came out, it got overwhelmingly positive reviews, and people praised her acting. According to Bollywood Hungama’s Taran Adarsh, “Sen Sharma is completely natural, and the greatest thing is that she makes it look easy.

This amazing performer delivers yet another outstanding performance!” According to The New York Times, “Characters like Aisha, independent metropolitan women with both job and romantic goals, have become a specialty of Ms. Sharma’s. Her Aisha is a complex character that is ambitious, empathetic, and believable, and Mr. Mukerji, who is directing the movie for the first time, did well to let her take the lead.”

Konkana Sen Sharma appeared in two films in 2010: Neeraj Pathak’s Right Yaa Wrong, in which she portrayed a lawyer, and Ashwani Dheer’s comedy Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, in which she co-starred with Ajay Devgan and Paresh Rawal. She has wrapped up filming for Vinay Shukla’s Mirch and Rituparno Ghosh’s comedy Sunglass.
