Kunchacko Boban’s parents are devout Christians, and he was born in the city of Alappuzha in the Indian state of Kerala. The Maliampurakal family, of which he is a member, is widely recognised as the proprietors of Kerala’s first film company, Udaya Studios. He is Kunchacko’s grandson, the man who founded Udaya Studios and a career in filmmaking. Navodaya Studios founder Navodaya Appachan is his great-uncle. Jijo Punnose, another director, is Boban’s relative. Boban Kunchacko, his dad, was an actor, director, and producer who worked on a few movies that Udaya made. Mom, Molly, stays at home to raise Kunchacko. Anu and Mini, his younger sisters, are his only other living relatives.

Renowned Malayalam film studio Udhaya Films was given a facelift by Kunchacko Boban in 2016. Kunchacko’s first feature as a producer, Kochauvva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho, did well at the Malayalam box office. Several organisations have recognised his efforts in filmmaking and acting, including the Kerala State FilmFare Awards, the Asianet FilmFare Awards, and others. Filmmaker Sivaprasad’s film Ee Snehatheerathu earned him the Special Jury Award at the Kerala State FilmFare Awards.
