Verdict

Vishal Bhardwaj has a unique way of story telling that is loved by many aspiring filmmakers and Kuttey movie has some similarities to such making, as this movie is directed by his son. We see very few movies that has mix of crime and comedy like ‘Monica O My Darling’ that released recently. ‘Kuttey’ movie has the same genre that has a mix of both crime and comedy.

Kuttey has a very simple storyline of people running behind money leading to disasters, but what makes this movie look special and make us watch the movie till the end is the screenplay & performances from the lead cast. Runtime of this movie is another major advantage with no songs disturbing the flow.

While it comes to acting performances, Arjun Kapoor looks oaky in the role offered to him and he needs to improve a lot more as an actor. Tabu is splendid as usual but in a mass role this time. Kumud Mishra once again did his part well with his commendable acting. Radhika Madan was also very impressive. Naseeruddin Shah and Konkona Sen Sharma have limited roles, but their performances are very effective. All other actors did their part well as required for the characters.

Technically Kuttey movie looks very good. Songs composed and released before the release are good to hear, but has no scope in the movie and background score by Vishal Bhardwaj  is one the major highlights that keeps our interest in the movie. Farhad Ahmed Dehlvi cinematography is another aspect that keeps us hooked and the lighting setup & color grading are very apt for this genre movie. Production values are good.

Though this is his first movie, director Aasmaan Bhardwaj succeeded in entertaining the audience with his making style. But the usage of cuss words throughout the movie might cause discomfort for few section of audience.

Overall, Kuttey is an interesting crime comedy movie with a stellar cast. You can definitely watch this movie in theatres for this weekend.

Plus Points:

  • Music
  • Cinematography
  • Narration

Minus Points:

  • Usage of many Cuss Words
  • Few routine scenes

Rating: 2.75/5
