The movie shoot took off in 2018, with the makers of Saina releasing the first look of actor Shraddha Kapoor who has been pencilled to play the title role. But, later she has been dropped from the project for various reasons. Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra has been chosen to play the role of Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal in a biopic when Shraddha Kapoor is out from the project.
The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jairaj and Rashesh Shah, co-produced by Vinod Bhanushali and Shiv Chanana under the banner of T-Series, Deepa Bhatia(Amole Gupte Cinema) and Front Foot Pictures.
