Movie Verdict

We are all aware of the profound impact that P.S. Mithran’s debut film, the Telugu smash hit Abhimanyudu, made upon the industry. While his new film, Sardar, has little to do with his earlier work, he is undoubtedly the first Indian director to focus on bank and digital fraud.
The film grabs the audience’s attention from the get-go with a captivating premise.

There are a few problems with the film, but the non-linear story and interesting parts more than make up for them. The film is a grounded spy story with universal elements that will appeal to a wide range of audiences. Once the flashback begins, the second half slows down a bit, then it picks up speed again until the end. In the first act, there was a racy plot.

There are a few slow spots, but otherwise the picture has everything it needs to hold the audience’s interest. The action and investigation sequences are what really pull you into Sardar’s world, and they’re coupled with just the proper amount of drama and devastating moments to leave you feeling fulfilled by the end.

Everyone did a fine job in their roles; Raasi Khanna was fine in a thankless role as a lawyer, Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan was fantastic because her character has several facets, and Chunky Pandey is pleasant. Karthi has convincingly taken on the roles of both the Father and the Son. Particularly impressive are the many outfits he can pull off.

The film’s plot is intriguing, showing how a spy dies protecting his country but receives no recognition for his sacrifice. We can see P.S. Mithran’s creative talent and his successful transformation into the screen, which is why he was able to maintain the audience’s interest.
With the exception of a few VFX sequences, Sardar’s technical presentation is excellent.

George C. Williams’ cinematography, along with the film’s colour tones and grading, is a major strength. Despite the fact that GV Prakash Kumar’s music never fails to impress, the Telugu songs in this film were a letdown because of the strong Tamil influence. But the BGM, which really shook up a few spots, was where he made his mark. The rest of the technical divisions performed superbly. In sum, Sardar is a realistic spy film that may be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.

Plus Points:

  • Story
  • Screenplay
  • Karthi Performance

BGM

Minus Points:

  • In the second half few scenes
  • Tamil Flavour
