Shah Rukh Khan Early Life

For those keeping score at home, Shahrukh Khan will be 57 years old in 2022, having been born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi. His maternal grandmother gave birth to him and named him Abdul Rehman, but he was renamed Shah Rukh by his father. He attended Delhi’s St. Columba’s School, where he played wicket-keeper for the school’s cricket team.

Shahrukh was born in New Delhi, India to a family of modest means who practise Islam. Both of his parents were successful professionals; his father, the Late Taj Mohammad Khan, ran a transportation company, and his mother, the Lateef Fatima, served as a magistrate and social worker. His parents met and fell in love in the hospital, where his father gave blood to his injured mother. Shahnaz Lalarukh is his older sister. Previously, they had been occupying a Delhi rental.

He tied the knot with his college sweetheart, Gauri Chibber, an Indian film producer and interior designer, on October 25, 1991. Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan are his sons, and Suhana Khan is his daughter.

Shah Rukh Khan Career

Shah Rukh Khan first appeared on television in the 1989 series Fauji. After then, he had roles in shows including “Umeed,” “Wagle Ki Duniya,” and “Mahan Karz.” His acting credits also include the English telefilm “In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones.” In 1992, he made his debut in the Indian film industry with the film “Deewana,” and since then he has signed on for roles in films such as “Chamatkar,” “Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman,” “Maya Memsaab,” “King Uncle,” “Baazigar,” “Darr,” and “Pehla Nasha,” in addition to making a cameo appearance in “Pehla Nasha.” In 1994, he made just 25,000 selling movie tickets at the booking window of a Mumbai theatre and working on the set of the film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. His movie “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,” released in 1995, was a huge success at box offices across the country.

Khan featured with Twinkle Khanna in the 1999 film Baadshah, which was his lone release that year. The film bombed at the box office, but his performance in it garnered him a nomination for Best Performance in a Comic Role at the Filmfare Awards; he ultimately lost to Govinda for his role in Haseena Maan Jaayegi. Khan’s first venture as a producer was in 1999, when he formed Dreamz Unlimited alongside Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza. Their debut film, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), starring Khan and Chawla, bombed at the box office.

Throughout 2004, Khan enjoyed both critical and economic success. Together with his wife Gauri, he rebranded Dreamz Unlimited as Red Chillies Entertainment. He had his directorial debut with the business in the masala film Main Hoon Na, directed by Farah Khan. Some critics saw this fictionalised picture of India-Pakistan ties as an attempt to avoid casting Pakistan in the traditional villain role. Khan subsequently starred in Yash Chopra’s romantic drama Veer-Zaara, which premiered at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival to acclaim. Khan played an Indian Air Force fighter who falls in love with a Pakistani woman (Preity Zinta).

Khan’s fourth film with director Karan Johar and sixth with Kajol was My Name Is Khan (2010), which he shot after turning down the role eventually played by Anil Kapoor in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008). The film is inspired by real events and explores how people view Islam in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Film scholar Stephen Teo describes Khan’s portrayal of the Muslim with moderate Asperger syndrome, Rizwan Khan, who sets out on a voyage across America to see the country’s president, as a “symbol of assertive rasa ideals,” and another example of Khan embodying NRI identity in global Bollywood.

Due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Khan did not release any further films after Zero. He hasn’t been seen on film for nearly four years, but we’ll get to see him again in Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand. The movie, which features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is scheduled for a January 25th, 2023 release. Released on December 22, 2023, he will next be seen in Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and costarring Taapsee Pannu, as revealed in April 2022.
