After graduating, she began acting classes and joined Jaimini Pathak’s theatre company. She served as a production assistant on the movies Seagull and Arabian Nights in the beginning of her career. Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, directed by Naseeruddin Shah, was Shahana’s first big break in the movie business. She performed the minor part of Payal in this movie. She received a job offer from Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Ru Ba Ru following this performance.
She had her first box office hit with the 2008 movie Rock On. She portrayed Arjun Rampal’s wife in this movie, for which she received the Filmfare, Lions Gold, Cineblitz, and Star Screen awards. After Rock On, she never turned around. Later, she made numerous film appearances, including those in Ra.One, Game, Break Ke Baad, and Tu Hai Mera Sunday.
