SJ. Surya entered the world on July 20, 1968, in the town of Puliangudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He and his family have relocated to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The names Sammanasu Pandian and Anandham belong to his parents. His formal education began at The Indian High School in Dubai, and he completed it at Loyola College in Chennai. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chennai after finishing high school with the goal of landing a role in a Tamil film.

Vaali, Suryaah’s debut film, starred Ajith and was a massive success, running in theatres for 270 consecutive days. It was aimed at an older demographic and was favourably received.
