Sumanth Biography
Sumanth Education
An only child of Surendra Yarlagadda and the late Satyavathi Akkineni, Sumanth is the eldest of Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s children. When Sumanth was only a few months old, his parents moved back to the United States. As a result, he spent his formative years in India with his grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and grandmother, Annapurna Akkineni. In 1992 he graduated from Hyderabad Public School and enrolled in an engineering programme at the University of Michigan. Then he decided to drop out of college and pursue a career in filmmaking instead of engineering. After deciding to pursue a career in filmmaking, he enrolled in Columbia College in Chicago.

The film itself and Sumanth’s performance both garnered Nandi Awards and critical acclaim. Off-screen, Sumanth is a huge sports aficionado and was recently hired as the spokesman for the EFLI’s Hyderabad Skykings franchise (The American Football League of India).
Sumanth Career
In 1999, he made his acting debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s love tragedy Prema Katha. Box office receipts for the film in which he plays a little country lad were merely satisfactory. Later, in Gowri, he played a motorbike mechanic after appearing in films like Yuvakudu, Pelli Sambandham, and Satyam (2004).
On-screen, he played an orphan in Mahanandi and co-starred with Ravi Varma, Sharwanand, and Sadha in Classmates (2007). In 2009, he was a part of the critically panned film Boni. After that, he played a commercial director in Daggaraga Dooranga and a sports coach in the drama Golconda High School, both alongside Swati Reddy. He also had a role in the remake of the 2012 Hindi film Vicky Donor, Naruda Donoruda, directed by Mallik Ram.
The actor’s resume also includes roles in films like MalliRaava, which follows a couple who fall in love at different points in their lives but ultimately grow apart. Sumanth and Aakanksha Singh play Idam Jagath and Subrahmanyapuram, respectively, in this film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. He has also released NTR Mahanayakudu (2019) and Kapatadhaari (2020). Malli Modalaindi, a new film that has been met with generally positive reviews, has recently been released.
