Vijay attended Fathima Matriculation Higher Secondary School before transferring to Balalok Matriculation Higher Secondary School to finish his education. Vijay enrolled himself in Loyola College after he finished high school to pursue a degree in visual communications. He discontinued his studies, though, in order to concentrate more on his acting career. He made his debut as a young artist at the age of 10 in the S. A. Chandrasekhar, his father’s, 1984 film Vetri.
