Thaman S Wiki and Biography: Thaman Ghantasala Sai Srinivas Siva Kumar, better known by his stage name, S.S.Thaman, is a composer for Indian films who works primarily in Telugu and Tamil. Even though Thaman made his acting debut in a supporting role in the film Boys, he has since gone on to star in his own films. Soon after, he began composing music for films and gained notoriety in that capacity. His first two films as a composer were the Tamil film Sindhanai Sei and the Telugu film Kick. Kick eventually became his first commercial success.

Thaman S Education

A native of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, S.S.Thaman entered the world on November 16. Both his father and mother share the surname Ghantasala: Ghantasala Siva Kumar and Ghantasala Savithri. A former student of Don Bosco School, he has since left the academic institution. Their son is the product of his marriage to Sri Vardhini.

Thaman S Early Life

He was born into a wealthy family of Telugu Brahmins in Andhra Pradesh. He is the grandchild of the famous film producer and director Ghantasala Balaramayya. The musical talents of Thaman’s family run deep. He joined the band when he was 9 years old to play the rhythm pads, but when his father died when he was 13, he dropped out of school. He made his acting debut in Boys and his composing debut with Sindhanai Sei, both in Tamil; in 2009, he starred in his first Telugu film, titled kick.

Thaman S Career

He was born into a family of Telugu Brahmins in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Seetarama Jananam, Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s first film, was produced by his grandfather, the director and producer Ghantasala Balaramayya. Pottepalem, Nellore District is home to Thaman’s musical ancestors.

His mother Ghantasala Savitri is a playback singer, his aunt P. Vasantha is a vocalist, and his father Ghantasala Siva Kumar was a drummer who worked on seven hundred films with composer K. Chakravarthy. Thaman is married to Playback singer Sri Vardhini. He began playing rhythm pads with Ilaiyaraaja’s brother S.P. Balasubramaniam and G. Anand when he was nine years old and gave up school when his father died when he was thirteen. Given the dire circumstances at home, he had no choice but to turn his passion into a source of income.

He subsequently joined the Raj-Koti team, worked for three years on sixty pictures, and then joined M. M. Keeravani and worked with him for three years finishing thirty films. As a composer, he has learned from the likes of Vandemataram Srinivas, Chakri, R. P. Patnaik, and Devi Sri Prasad.

Six and a half years later, he had completed eighty films while learning from Manisharma. In total, he spent fourteen years learning the ropes from the industry’s greatest rhythm and keyboard programmers before striking out on his own. After an audition in which he was asked to play the drums, Thaman was cast in Boys and went on to contribute to the film’s score.

His debut film score was for the Tamil movie Sindhanai Sei, and in 2009 he scored his first Telugu movie, Kick. Thaman scored his 50th picture, Aagadu, in 2014.
