Verdict

There are few film makers in India, who never fail to deliver the best content movies and Vetri Maaran definitely tops the list. Viduthalai has all the elements that are expected from director Vetri Maaran. Movie starts off with a good note, slowly introducing the main character and his struggle for his role in the department.

All the characters in the movie are so real that audience from Tamilnadu will definitely connect to any of these characters from the movie. Movie has many metaphors that has some underlying meaning. Realistic making and in-depth characters will make us watch the movie till the end, even though there are few dull moments in the movie. Climax scene will definitely make us wait for the release of part 2.

While it comes to performances, Actor Soori looks like a perfect selection for the role of Kumaresan, who is naive and ambitious. It is refreshing to see him in such character that has less scope for comedy, but has more scope for performance. Vijay Sethupathi is brilliant as usual in the role of Perumal “Vaathiyar” and we cannot find any flaws in his performance. Bhavan Sri also did her part very well. Chetan, Gautham Vasudev Menon and all other actors did their part well as required for their characters.

Technically Viduthalai Part 1 looks very good. Songs composed by Ilayaraaja are soulful and background music added the required mood for many scenes. Cinematography by R Velraj is another highlight in the movie, as he was successful in creating the tension among the audience during some scenes. Action scenes are well designed. Production values are decent.

Director Vetri Maaran proves once again, why he is loved by everyone. His characters look so real on screen though the story of this movie is very simple. He should definitely be appreciated for all the efforts in bringing such realistic movies.

Overall, Viduthalai Part 1 is another masterpiece from director Vetri Maaran. Definitely watch this movie only in theatres.
