Vivek Agnihotri attended the School of Social Science at Bhopal University to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also attended this institution to earn a Master of Planning (Economics) degree. Vivek Agnihotri then enrolled in a course in advertising at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi. Later, he completed a Harvard University Organization & Management Course (CSS).

On December 21, 1973, a Friday, Vivek Agnihotri was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Prabhu Dayal Agnihotri is his father, and Sharda Agnihotri is his mother. On June 28, 1997, Vivek Agnihotri married Pallavi Joshi. A well-known Indian television actress is Pallavi Joshi. The couple has two kids: a son named Manan and a daughter named Maalika.

Vivek Agnihotri Career

Vivek Agnihotri started working as a technical person at several well-known Indian companies shortly after completing the advertising course at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. He also worked in the advertising departments of J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather, MacCann, Maggi, Nestle, and P&G. In its Product Launch Team, he later collaborated with Gillette and Coca-Cola. Later, in Delhi, he established his own advertising company called Art Beat, which was immediately recognised by Business Today magazine as one of the top ten fastest-growing advertising companies in India.

Later, Vivek quit his job in business and started working as a scriptwriter in India’s entertainment sector. The award-winning documentary he made as a debut, Social Justice in India, was released. Vivek Agnihotri Creates, his own production company, was soon launched. He created and directed numerous advertisements for well-known companies and organisations under the banner of this production company, including Vicks, Godrej, P&G, Dainik Bhaskar, the Government of India, and the Blind Association of India. He later received the A&M Gold medal and the Ad Club Gold award for his inventive AIDS ad film, which highlighted his commitment to society’s well-being.

Vivek Agnihotri wrote the scripts for several well-known television programmes, including Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum (2015), Rishtey (2002), Saturday Suspense (1997), X-Zone (1998), Anubandh, and Asambhav (2004).

Vivek Agnihotri directed a criminal thriller called Chocolate in 2005. The 1995 picture, a well-known Hollywood criminal thriller, was remade for this one. Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, a movie starring Vivek, had a mediocre box office performance and was labelled a failure in 2007. His 2014 movie “Zid” likewise had a terrible box office performance. In 2014, the Urban Naxalism-based movie “Buddha In A Traffic Jam” was released. In this movie, Vivek Agnihotri exposes the connections in India between the media, NGOs, terrorists, and academics.

The Indian Left parties challenged the movie’s release, which resulted in a five-year delay. When Vivek Agnihotri travelled throughout India to gather research for this movie, he was subjected to a few violent attacks by his opponents. His subsequent endeavour, “Muhammad & Urvashi,” a short film that was released in 2017, received both domestic and international acclaim. Vivek Agnihotri directed a movie in 2019 based on the enigmatic passing of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second prime minister.

The Tashkent Files was the title of the movie for which Vivek Agnihotri received the IFTDA Award from the Film & TV Directors Association. Later, the renowned educational institutes IIM Ahmedabad and Mumbai University’s Media Studies included The Tashkent Files case study to their curricula. The genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 was shown in the 2022 film The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri. Vivek Agnihotri, his wife, and his daughter made a worldwide tour to record and compile the testimonies of the first-generation Kashmir genocide victims. The release of this movie was scheduled for August 2021, but it was postponed because of the COVID-19 second lockdown in India.

Now he is making the film called  ‘The Vaccine War’, currently the film is under production and the makers are aiming for release on August 15, 2023.
