Movie Verdict
The movie takes some time to get into the actual story because we can see the introductions of all the major characters at the beginning of the movie. However, once Yashoda’s twists are revealed, the movie becomes interesting and keeps you glued to your seat. From that point on, the pace of the movie picks up as you can see the story’s many layers being revealed, which is quite fascinating to watch on screen.
The main draw of the movie is its novel notion, Yashoda, which has all the ingredients to undoubtedly appeal to viewers from all demographics. The second half grows even more interesting as all the layers are revealed, and it also focuses on motherhood emotion, which is handled beautifully. The first half was engrossing thanks to the proper amount of drama and a compelling narrative.
The topic of “Surrogacy” has been the subject of a few films, but this one stands out because it has numerous levels, all of which are somehow relevant to the audience. While Yashoda is attempting to figure out who is behind this surrogate scam, the idea itself is extremely compelling, and the producers do a good job of maintaining the tension. However, after the twist is exposed, that was not at all convincing.
There are many facets to Yashoda’s character, which Samantha as a surrogate nimbly handled, and it’s fantastic to see her in action situations. Samantha also demonstrated her acting prowess. Each performs admirably in their assigned parts, including Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, Unni Mukundan and Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Shatru, Madhurima, Kalpika Ganesh, Divya Sripada, and Priyanka Sharma.
Despite the script diverging from the subject, the twin filmmakers Hari and Harish managed in creating a film with the proper amount of emotion and thrill. They also came up with a wonderful story. Since they so expertly demonstrated how surrogate scams operate and how innocent women are frequently victims, many people are unaware of surrogates.
Technically speaking, Yashoda looks nice. M. Sukumar’s cinematography is good, as his framing and shot composition transport you into Yashoda’s universe. Manisharma’s songs aren’t up to par, but he displayed his skill in background music by thrilling us with his brilliant background score.
Overall, Yashoda is a well-made emotional thriller that is suitable for all audience segments.
